Privacy Policy

प्रवाह (Pravah) Matrimony · Effective date: 30 July 2026

1. Who we are

Pravah (प्रवाह) is a community matrimony platform operated by The Enabling People (“Pravah”, “we”, “us”, “our”), available as an Android application and related services (together, the “Service”). We are the “data fiduciary” for the personal data described in this policy under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”).

By creating an account or submitting a profile on Pravah you consent to the collection and use of your information as described here. This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.

2. Information we collect

a. Account information. Your full name and mobile number, which we verify with a one-time password (OTP) sent by SMS through Google Firebase Authentication. We never see or store your SMS messages — only the verified number.

b. Matrimonial profile (biodata) information that you voluntarily submit for yourself or, with their consent, for a family member:

  • Name, date of birth, age, gender and marital status
  • Religion, caste, sub-caste/gotra and community details
  • Height, and other personal attributes you choose to share
  • Education, occupation and income details
  • Family details (parents' names/occupations, siblings, family type)
  • City/town and contactable details (mobile, alternate number, contact person)
  • Photographs you upload for the profile

Some of this (religion, caste, community) is treated by us as sensitive information: it is collected only because a matrimonial profile requires it, only with your explicit consent, and it is displayed exactly as you submit it.

c. Community feed content. Posts, comments and likes you create on the in-app community feed, along with your display name.

d. Support communication. Messages you send us by email or WhatsApp, and the reason you select if you delete a profile or account.

e. Automatically collected. Basic technical data needed to run the Service: device type, app version, language preference, IP address and server request logs, and crash/diagnostic information.

What we do not collect: we do not collect government ID numbers (such as Aadhaar), precise GPS location, your contacts, or your SMS history. The app does not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and operate your account and verify your mobile number
  • To display your matrimonial profile to other registered users of the app — this is the core purpose of the Service and happens only after you consent and an administrator approves the profile
  • To review, approve or reject profiles and feed content (moderation)
  • To generate a shareable biodata (PDF) when you request it
  • To respond to support requests and grievances
  • To keep the Service safe — preventing spam, misuse, fraud and abuse
  • To notify you about your profile status (for example, approval or rejection)
  • To comply with applicable law and legal requests

We do not sell your personal data, use it for third-party marketing, or profile you with automated decision-making.

4. Consent

We process your personal data on the basis of your consent (Section 7, DPDP Act), which you give when you accept the consent declaration while submitting a profile (“I agree that my profile and contact details will be shared with verified users of this app”) and when you accept our Terms at sign-up. If you submit a profile on behalf of a family member, you confirm you have their consent to do so. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting the profile or account, or by contacting us — after which we will stop displaying the information.

5. How your information is shared

With other users. Approved profiles — including photos and the contact details you chose to include — are visible to registered, logged-in users of the app so that families can connect for matrimonial purposes. Profiles may also be shared by users as a link or biodata PDF outside the app; please share responsibly.

With our administrators. A small, fixed team of community administrators reviews submissions and moderates the feed.

With service providers that host and run the Service on our behalf, under their own security safeguards:

  • Google Firebase — mobile-number (OTP) authentication
  • Vercel — hosting of our backend and storage of uploaded media
  • Supabase — storage of submitted profile forms
  • Neon — database for feed posts, ads and moderation records

For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

We never sell or rent personal data to anyone.

6. Advertisements

The app shows a small number of advertisements placed directly by our administrators for community members and local businesses. These are first-party ads: no advertising network is involved, no personal data is shared with advertisers, and you are not tracked across other apps or websites.

7. Photos and device permissions

The app asks for access to your camera or photo library only when you choose to upload a photo, and uploads only the images you select. Uploaded photos are stored securely and shown as part of your profile or feed posts.

8. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account or profile is active. When you delete a profile or your account, the profile stops being visible immediately and the underlying data is removed from our systems within 30 days, except for minimal records we must keep for legal, security or dispute-resolution purposes (for example moderation logs), which are retained no longer than necessary and then deleted.

9. Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to personal data is limited to authenticated administrators, our systems use credential-protected databases and signed sessions, and photos/media are served from access-controlled storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data using reasonable security practices as required by Indian law.

10. Your rights

  • Access— see the information in your profile at any time under “My Profile” in the app
  • Correction— request an edit from “My Profile”; the corrected profile replaces the old one after review
  • Deletion — delete your profile or account as described below
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, with effect for the future
  • Grievance redressal — contact our Grievance Officer (Section 13 below); you may also approach the Data Protection Board of India under the DPDP Act

11. Account and data deletion

You can delete your account and data in either of these ways:

  • In the app: open Me → My Profile, choose Delete, select a reason and confirm. This removes the profile and the associated personal data.
  • On the web: submit a request at /delete-account with your registered mobile number.
  • Without the app: email theenablingpeople@gmail.com or WhatsApp +91 93006 99585 from the registered mobile number, asking for account deletion. We will verify it is you and complete the deletion within 30 days, then confirm to you.

Deletion covers your account, profile/biodata, photos, and feed posts and comments. Limited records may be retained where the law requires, as described in Section 8.

12. Children

Pravah is meant only for adults of legal marriageable age under Indian law. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone below 18 years of age; any such account or profile will be removed when identified.

13. Grievance Officer

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 and the DPDP Act, 2023, you may raise any complaint about content on the platform or the handling of your personal data with our Grievance Officer:

Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours and resolved within 15 days, as required by the IT Rules, 2021.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change, and material changes will be announced in the app. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
